Ida B. Wells-Barnett High SchoolBridge

Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

BRIDGE is a student-led course open to grades 10-12, focused on racial equity education and action. In the spirit of the values of our namesake, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, we aim to shine the light of truth upon the inequities in our community. Through student-led conversations, short readings, and guest presenters, this course will expand student awareness so they can bring that learning to the greater community. Over the first semester, students will learn about the foundations of critical race theory, intersectionality, and identity. In the second semester, students will apply that learning to a choice project that directly responds to a need in our community. By the end of the year, students should have a deeper understanding of the intersection of race and the social, political, and intellectual experiences guiding daily life.
