Hillsborough High School – Journalism 2-4 Newspaper

Provides basic instruction in newspaper journalism. Covers what is/is not news, news gathering process, basic hard news features. Students acquire real-world experience as they function as staff writers, photographers and advertising salespersons for the school newspaper. Students are required to sell a minimum amount of advertising to support publication costs, which are not provided by school or school board funds. Field trips, seminars, conventions and contest are available. Students in the Journalism (N) classes are responsible for the production of the award-winning Red & Black. [Honors credit available through portfolio process.] Work outside school hours is required.
Prerequisites: TEACHER RECOMMENDATION REQUIRED (Ms. McMullian in Room 506). Preference given to students who complete Journalism 1.
