- Rigorous course compacting concepts from 6th and 7th grade SOL’s - Use patterns, estimation, and proportional reasoning to solve problems with integers and rational numbers - Apply proportional relationships as well as analyze relations and functions using tables, graphs, and rules - Investigate and apply properties of geometry and algebraic concepts as well as analyze and interpret data Students will take the Grade 7 Math SOL assessment

- Continue to develop and apply proportional relationships and analyze relations and functions using tables, graphs, and rules - Continue to develop algebraic reasoning by using patterns, estimation, and algebraic techniques to solve problems - Investigate and apply properties of geometry and algebraic concepts as well as analyze and interpret data Students will take the Grade 7 Math SOL assessment

- Use proportional and algebraic reasoning to analyze and represent relations and functions using tables, graphs, and rules - Use algebraic reasoning to solve and graph multi-step linear equations and inequalities - Apply geometric concepts such as Pythagorean Theorem and transformations as well as data analysis in practical situations Students will take the Grade 8 Math SOL assessment

- Understand the principles of plane, solid, and coordinate geometry - Develop reasoning skills through the exploration of geometric relationships - Investigate and solve problems involving circles and polygons - Emphasis on two- and three-dimensional reasoning skills, coordinate and transformational geometry, and the use of geometric models to solve problems - Rigorous and in-depth investigation of topics and practical applications Students may take the Geometry SOL assessment to earn 1 verified credit.

- Apply algebraic concepts and processes to the real world - Represent problem situations using expressions, equations, and inequalities - Solve and graph multi-step linear and quadratic functions Students will take the Algebra I SOL assessment to earn 1 verified credit

This course is designed for students who have successfully completed Algebra 1 and may benefit from additional support before their transition to Algebra 2.  Through the investigation of mathematical models and interpretation/analysis of data from relevant, applied contexts and situations, students will strengthen conceptual understandings in mathematics and further develop connections between algebra and statistics.  Topics include: - Investigate and analyze function families and their characteristics - Collect data and determine the curve of best fit to predict outcomes - Determine optimal values in problem situations using linear programming

- Solve linear and quadratics equations, inequalities, and systems of non-linear equations - Explore functions and their transformations - Investigate polynomials as well as radical and rational expressions Students may take Algebra II SOL assessment to earn 1 verified credit

Algebra 2 builds off of the foundation of Algebra 1.  Problem-solving skills are developed through algebraic, geometric, and statistical applications.  Topics include: - Solve linear and quadratic equations and inequalities, and systems of nonlinear equations - Explore functions and their transformations - Investigate polynomials and radical and rational expressions - Rigorous and in-depth investigation of topics and practical applications Students may take the Algebra 2 SOL assessment to earn 1 verified credit

- Explore polynomials, logarithms and exponential functions, and probability - Solve trigonometric equations and verify trigonometric identities - Explore, graph, and apply trigonometric and circular functions

- Provide development of pre-algebra topics expanded upon in Algebra 1 - Apply algebraic concepts and processes to the real world
