Gwynns Falls Elementary – Band I - IV

This performance-oriented class is for students who already have some experience with their selected musical instrument to enhance their musicianship as part of the school’s performing groups, including the marching and concert band. We will learn aural skills, instrumental pedagogy, and successful performance practices. Students will learn varied and culturally appropriate repertoire, while gaining skills necessary to perform at the high school and collegiate level. Students are thus expected to present at public concerts, some of which may be on weekends, with commensurate rehearsal time also required. Grading is based on class participation, written work and theory, instrumental performance ratings, and rehearsal/concert participation. Because group rehearsal after school is an essential prerequisite for performances, students who are unwilling or unable to commit to rehearsal time should not sign up for band. Rehearsal time is 3:15- 5:15 p.m. Parental signature is required prior to enrolling
