Green Mountain High School – Vocal Performance Techniques

Vocal Performance Techniques is a semester-long, studio-based course designed to develop individual vocal technique, musicianship, and performance skills through solo singing. Modeled after a group voice lesson format, the course blends individualized repertoire study with collaborative learning. Students will study multiple solo works representing a variety of vocal styles. Topics includes healthy vocal technique, basic sight-reading and music theory fundamentals, introductory diction and IPA, and strategies for independently learning new repertoire. Frequent in-class performance experiences support technical development, musical independence, and peer feedback skills. Students will build a solo repertoire portfolio suitable for auditions, performances, and future musical study. The semester will culminate in a recital performance by each student.
