Zoology is a one semester course that provides students with an understanding of animals, the niche they occupy in their environment or habitat, their life-cycles, and their evolutionary relationships to other organisms. These courses should also help students develop an awareness and understanding of biotic communities. Science courses are required to follow 2020 Colorado Academic Standards which ensure equal emphasis on Science and Engineering Practices, Cross Cutting concepts , and Disciplinary Core Ideas. Students will experience an anchored inquiry model of instruction. With an emphasis on comparative anatomy and species interactions with the botany in their ecosystems. **This course may be applied towards a STEM Endorsed Diploma
