Emphasis is on improving thinking and speaking skills through public speaking opportunities such as presentations and competition. Activities include presentation, impromptu, informational, and persuasive speaking, oratory, as well as poetry and prose reading.In debate, students must present arguments and evidence in a highly structured format that emphasizes research and critical thinking. Emphasis is on the relationship of literature to social and political developments from the Classical Period through the Renaissance and Reformation.
