Estimated homework: The expected homework commitment is 30 minutes per class This lab-based, dynamic, hands-on course focuses on the study of the origin and development of the Earth. This includes the development of the Earth's crust, its minerals, rocks, volcanoes, mountains, and continents. This course provides an understanding of the natural and physical processes of the planet Earth and an appreciation for the impact geology has on everyday life. Students identify important minerals and rocks, while gaining an appreciation for the application of mineral resources to everyday life. Other topics include mass extinctions, geologic history and Colorado geology. This course aligns with NGSS and CO state standards in Science.
