Erie High School – CU ASTR 1000 Solar System

Fee Required for CU credit (optional credit) This is a CU Lab Based course worth 4 college credits. Students will learn about the night sky, motion of the planets, stars, the moon, & your place in the cosmos. Students will learn how to observe through telescopes and other astronomical instruments, the origins and structure of the Solar System, properties of the planets including results from recent Space Probes. Students will learn about asteroids, comets, and planets around other stars – Exoplanets. Labs include actual observations of the sky. Solid math base in a minimum of Algebra 2 required.
Prerequisites: C or better in Algebra 2 and Passing grade in English 11 and Chemistry
