Enoree Career Center – Automotive Technology 1 & 2

Year one introduces students to the automotive industry through a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and real-world training designed to build confidence and technical skill. Training covers shop safety, tool use, and the fundamentals of modern vehicle systems—brakes, steering, suspension, engines, and electronics—while emphasizing problem-solving, accuracy, and teamwork.
Prerequisites: Two-year commitment; Attention to Detail: Some parts need to be in the exact right place, or they will not work. Being able to pay attention to the minute details will be necessary; Strength: Engines and parts can be extremely heavy and will take a lot of strength to move or manipulate; Mechanical Skills: Familiarity with parts and components of engines, as well as the tools to fix them; Technical Skills: Be familiar with electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs; Manual Dexterity: Good hands and excellent hand-eye coordination; Troubleshooting Skills: Be able to look at mechanical components, identify problems, and think about possible solutions
Grades: Open to rising 10th and 11th graders
