This is a yearlong college level course. The course surveys major areas of psychological science. Core topics include human social behavior, personality, psychological disorders and treatment, learning, memory, human development, biological influences, and research methods. Related topics may include sensation, perception, states of consciousness, thinking, intelligence, language, motivation, emotion, stress and health, cross-cultural psychology, and applied psychology. It is not required for students to take Psychology as a prerequisite for this class, however if you have taken Psychology, then you must pass the class in order to take UW Psychology 101. In addition to earning high school credit, students can take the course for 5 credits from the University of Washington. Taking the course for UW credit is optional, but free.
