Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) is a foundation course of the PLTW Engineering program. In IED, students explore engineering tools and apply the engineering design process to solve engineering problems. Utilizing the activity-, project-, problem-based (APB) teaching and learning pedagogy, students progress from completing structured activities to solving open-ended projects and problems that require them to develop planning, documentation, communication, and other professional skills. IED is a foundational course that can be chosen to complete the engineering or architecture major.

Prerequisites: PLTW Engineer Essentials, Alg 1 CP with 80+, Alg 1 H, Geom CP with 80+, OR Geom H

Grades: 9, 10, 11
