duPont Manual High – Visual Art I

This course is the foundation course in art for the high school student. In the course, the student receives instruction in the studio areas—design, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and textiles—that increase basic art skills developed in the middle school art program. The course provides experiences to increase student knowledge and ability through art history, analysis of form, aesthetics, cultural heritage, and art production. The student is introduced to career options in the visual arts. Visual Art I prepares the student for Visual Art II, Folk art and Craft, and 3D Art courses.
