This course is an introductory theatre course designed to familiarize the student with all aspects of theatre. The course will explore and strengthen areas essential to proper actor development including physical/vocal relaxation, strength and flexibility, alignment, focus/concentration, imagination, and observation. In addition, the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) will be introduced. At the introductory level, IPA helps to eliminate intrusive dialect traits and to achieve Standard American Pronunciation. Additionally, students will study the history of theatre.
