Latin 1 provides the opportunities for the student to learn to read and write fundamental Latin, to master approximately 400-500 Latin vocabulary words presented in the text, to learn basic forms and syntax of the Latin language in a cumulative fashion, and to discern English derivatives of assigned vocabularies, thereby increasing the student’s English vocabulary. The course introduces the student to Roman geography, Roman culture, history, and mythology.
