duPont Manual High – Theatre Design/Tech 1, 2, 3, 4

These courses involve the academic study of historical and modern theatre production methods. The course includes theatrical drafting; the design and execution of scenery, lighting, costumes, sound, safety regulations, and resume/portfolio preparation. After school laboratories, rehearsals, and performances are required and provide practical experience. In Level 1 students concentrate on scenic construction techniques, costume construction and stage electricity. In Level 2, emphasis is placed on costume history, stage sound, property construction and paint techniques. In Level 3 students concentrate on stage drafting, both script and character analysis and rendering. Finally, in Level 4, students work on independent projects such as designing scenery, costumes, and/or lighting for various YPAS productions and internships with local theaters.
