duPont Manual High – Journalism 2
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Students sharpen their skills in writing news, features, profiles, investigative pieces, and editorials, while developing a distinct journalistic style and voice through close reading and analysis of exemplary journalism. Throughout the course, students study a range of professional writers to understand craft, structure, tone, and techniques, and apply those insights to their own reporting. A media literacy and current events component helps students analyze coverage across outlets, identify media bias, and assess credibility in real time. Students also develop copyediting and peer review skills essential to newsroom collaboration. This course is required for students in reporting roles on some magnet publications; available to non-J&C magnet students as space permits.
