This course is an interdisciplinary humanities course that provides students an opportunity to interact with historical materials and periods of history in a kinetic way; developing a deeper knowledge of culture and history as well as materials science and artisan skills. Students investigate objects from history, their social and cultural relevance, purpose, how they were made, and elements of the larger culture of study. Students will then, using knowledge and skills that they have learned about the many aspects of the object, build their own rendition of the historical object utilizing their knowledge of materials science.
