This course builds upon previously learned movement and vocal techniques necessary for the art of acting. This course component focuses primarily on acting in Modern Realism (including modern realistic comedy) and Anti-Realistic Theatre. Exploration of acting in modern realism will include but not be limited to the following playwrights: Ibsen, Chekhov, Miller, Norman, O’Neill and Simon. There will also be a section on the analysis of Shakespeare’s King Lear using Stanislavski based techniques. These courses include self-discovery and explore and develop areas essential to good acting including physical/vocal relaxation, strength and flexibility, concentration, imagination, observation, justification, and spontaneity.
