duPont Manual High – Studio Art 3/Textiles and Printmaking I

This is a yearlong course offering one semester of textiles and one semester of printmaking. The textiles semester introduces the student to surface design and fiber construction. Students explore mixed media, stitchery, and batik techniques. Students in printmaking explore relief, intaglio, and surface media for one semester. The students are encouraged to link their art experience and skill in a cross-curricular manner. Students are exposed to historical and cultural importance of the usage in this media throughout the term. Note: Visual Arts Magnet required 3rd year course.
Prerequisites: Admission to VA, Ceramics and Sculpture I and Drawing/Painting II
