This course focuses on the performance aspects of musical theatre and the specifics of being an instrumentalist in a musical production. The Pit Orchestra course provides relevant historical and musical information associated with musical theatre and specifically the show that is being performed each school year. Students will learn vital music rehearsal techniques and vocabulary associated with the designated musical and its time period including; stylistic performance practices (articulations, rhythms, ornamentation), phrasing, the ability to perform with vocalists and dancers on stage(timing, pulse control, and the ability to react to the conductor) as well as how the music relates to the storyline.
