duPont Manual High – Journalism 4
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Editorial Leadership moves students beyond the daily tasks of publishing and into the deeper work of leading people, processes, and projects within a publication. The course supports editors across all J&C publications as they strengthen interpersonal communication, coaching and feedback skills, ethical decision-making, and responsible newsroom/organizational practices. Students learn to manage teams, workflows, and conflict through case studies, role-play scenarios, selected readings on leadership and editorship, and small-group discussion focused on real newsroom challenges. Most class periods include structured staff work time devoted to planning staff class agendas.
Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment required in a publication; must be selected for a qualifying position
