duPont Manual High – Film Study
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Students will learn methods of viewing film critically while developing the ability to appreciate and analyze works from different eras and genres. Formal, critical, and theoretical analyses are conducted alongside a study of cinema history and film’s role in historical and cultural contexts. While the course focuses primarily on American film, students will also encounter works from other cultures. Students will analyze films, develop a critical eye, write extensively about film, and participate in frequent Socratic-style discussions. Open to non-magnet students as space permits.
