This course builds on the visual communication foundations introduced in Journalism 1/Mass Media Studies, guiding students into more advanced projects and career practices. Students deepen their understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and visual storytelling while expanding technical proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The course also introduces foundational motion graphics concepts using Adobe After Effects. Emphasis is placed on creative problem-solving, intentional design choices, and self and peer critique in a supportive environment. This is required for students in graphic design roles on some magnet publications.
