This is a practical course designed to build upon the skills established in Directing I, focusing on ways of seeing and shaping a theatrical event. The course will focus on developing tools for translating both the writer’s and director’s vision into compelling theatrical forms. Class content will include, but not be limited to reading from the assigned texts and selected articles, regular writing assignments, reading and analysis of several plays, lectures and class discussions. Rehearsals are a regular part of class and students are expected to direct and perform in multiple scenes. All students are expected to direct in New Works in the spring.
