Students in this competitive, application-only course gain authentic, hands-on experience producing journalism for Manual RedEye, Manual’s award-winning online news publication. Emphasizing reporting, visual journalism, and multimedia storytelling, the course prepares students to publish for a real audience at [manualredeye.com](https://www.google.com/url?q=http://manualredeye.com&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1772045082040121&usg=AOvVaw0ZWo7eECkB-s0rds_JiIQi). Students develop skills in ethical journalism, digital writing, and the use of professional tools for photography, video, audio, graphics, and social media. Coursework may include breaking news, features, investigations, commentary, videos, podcasts, and interactive or non-linear digital packages. Staff members work collaboratively in a team-oriented newsroom, take on leadership and production roles, and participate in regular critique and revision within a student-led, teacher-advised production environment.

Prerequisites: Applications due in February; see instructor. Limited to J&C magnet students.
