duPont Manual HighJournalism 3

Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

On the Record Newsmagazine (Journalism 3) is both an elective course and extracurricular activity for highly motivated students who are selected through an application and interview process. Staff members produce On the Record, Louisville’s award-winning youth newsmagazine, managing every stage of its creation: reporting, interviewing, writing, photography, copy editing, page design, web development, and social media. Students also run the business and outreach side by selling ads, conducting polls, handling clerical work, managing marketing and PR campaigns, and assisting with distribution. Because the publication operates like a professional newsroom, students take on leadership roles, collaborate on content, and uphold high journalistic and design standards while competing in state and national scholastic press competitions. Weekly Wednesday after-school work sessions are required.

Prerequisites: Applications due in February; see instructor.
