Secondary Language Arts serves to provide resources, professional learning, and support to all Broward County middle and high schools. The goal is to ensure that the Language Arts Florida Standards are taught with fidelity and that the reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language strands are interwoven throughout daily instruction.

The curriculum provides rich, challenging opportunities that prepares students for success in college and career. Students explore and describe observations, explain their thinking, and ask questions. They are encouraged to use multiple approaches to solve problems.

Through laboratory and technological experiences students are engaged in understanding the nature of scientific phenomena and how it correlates to the world around us. Middle school curriculum introduces earth, life, and physical sciences and making real-world connections through scientific inquiry.

Students learn concepts and content in the areas of American History, World History, Geography, Economics, Financial Literacy, Civics, and Government through a variety of required and elective courses.

The program develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language and demonstrates cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors in the target language.

Speech and debate students learn research, logic, organization of ideas, manipulation of language, assessment of audience, self-esteem, and engagement in world events.

The Computer Science program supports, engages, and enriches students by helping them develop problem-solving skills as they are introduced to different methods of critical thinking through complex activities.

Band courses are comprised of all student experience levels who enjoy performing music together. The program teaches students about the fundamentals of music appreciation.
