Creekside High School – Advanced Band

This course will help prepare the students foradvanced playing demands of upper highschool literature. The class providesopportunities for advanced-level performersto increase, develop and refine performanceskills and precision on a wind or percussioninstrument. It covers performance andproduction, analysis and theoretical studies,historical and cultural contributions andinfluences, creative aspects of music andappreciation of music at advanced levels ofunderstanding. The class organizes objectivesfor self-paced progress through all four levels.It stresses individual progress and learningstrategies and ensemble experiences. Afterschool rehearsals will be required. SymphonicBand will perform several required concertsduring the year. Students will be auditionedand placed in the most suitable class based onstudent ability and instrumentation.
