AP African American Studies is an interdisciplinarycourse that examines the diversity of AfricanAmerican experiences through direct encounterswith authentic and varied sources. Students explorekey topics that extend from early African kingdomsto the ongoing challenges and achievements of thecontemporary moment. Given the interdisciplinarycharacter of African American studies, students inthe course will develop skills across multiple fields,with an emphasis on developing historical, literary,visual, and data analysis skills. This courseforegrounds a study of the diversity of Blackcommunities in the United States within the broadercontext of Africa and the African diaspora.
