Corona Vista High – Medical Assistant - Clinical

Must be 18 years of age by the beginning of second semester, have completed 10 units of math and 10 units of Prerequisite: life science. This course will prepare students for employment as a medical assistant to assist the doctor in an office, clinic, or health care center. Topics include communication skills, ethics, confidentiality, anatomy, vital signs, assisting with exams, pharmacology and administration of medications including injections, venipuncture, medical terminology, metrics, EKG, and advanced charting. Students who qualify will be permitted to enhance skills learned in the classroom at community sites. Enrollment is only available at the beginning of the Fall semester.
