Conroe High School – Japanese III Honors
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
The Japanese III Honors course continues to strengthen proficiency in the three modes of communication. Students will require more time to achieve proficiency, especially in reading and writing. Initially, the skill focus should be placed on speaking and listening without ignoring reading and writing in the target language’s writing system. As the students become more proficient, a balanced emphasis of all four skills becomes more attainable. Students will further explore familiar topics of interest necessary to communicate in everyday, realistic situations. They will also expand their knowledge and appreciation of the culture and civilization of the Japanese-speaking world through reading, listening, and viewing authentic materials. By the end of the third year, students should be able to understand and communicate in the target language at an intermediate low to intermediate mid- level. Intermediate low speakers are able to begin creating original sentences with the language, while intermediate mid speakers can easily combine original sentences into complete thoughts and ideas.
