Focus on writing the academic essay as a vehicle for learning, communicating, and critical analysis is stressed. In 1302, the focus shifts to developing research-based expository and persuasive texts, including an emphasis on research methods, critical reading of verbal, visual, and multimedia texts, and critical thinking about evidence and conclusions. Students must earn a 70 overall semester average to earn 3 hours of college credit each semester.
