Focuses on art as a visual language and a tool for social movements. Students explore various mediums including drawing, printmaking, and sculpture to convey messages, reflect on societal influences, and explore personal and cultural identity through artistic expression. Topics include visual language, geometric and organic forms, graphic design, printmaking, propaganda, currency, relief sculpture, facial proportions, global mask traditions, 3D sculpture, and public vs. private identity.

Examines art as a language of expression and a tool for storytelling. Students investigate how personal and community identities are shaped by their environments, interrogate dominant narratives that perpetuate bias, and explore the history of divestment and redlining in Baltimore. The curriculum emphasizes the role of art in building community, self-reflection, and social activism. Topics include the power of stories, dominant and counter narratives, graffiti as place-based communication, self-reflection, visual examination of Baltimore, self-representation, art as documentation, art and propaganda, monumental art, and independent activism. Technical skills include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and design.

This course follows the Baltimore City Public School System curriculum for American Government. It provides students with a background in the philosophy, functions, and structure of the United States government, including its philosophical foundations and its relationship to states and citizens. Topics include Structure and Origins of Government, The Legislative Branch, The Executive Branch, The Judicial Branch, Economic Policy, Domestic Policy, Foreign Policy, and Personal Finance.
