This college preparatory level course readies students for challenging English courses throughout high school and emphasizes critical thinking skills. Students are expected to read literature from various genres, to write assignments such as literary analyses, personal narratives, and persuasive essays, as well as to complete college preparatory vocabulary and grammar. Students will read at least 6 parallel and teacher-directed longer pieces of literary merit over a year (including summer reading).

This course conforms to the College Board's course description for AP English Language and Composition. With the goals of developing critical literacy and facilitating informed citizenship, this course guides students through reading and writing activities aligned to an introductory college-level rhetoric and writing curriculum. Students deepen and expand their understanding of how writers make choices in diction, syntax, and tone and write in a wide variety of forms, including narrative, expository, and argumentative.

Students engage with literary works from authors across different cultures and backgrounds, examining themes that reflect global experiences. The course emphasizes critical reading, cultural understanding, and analytical writing skills through the study of various genres including novels, short stories, poetry, and drama.

This college preparatory course develops skills necessary in creating and developing dramatic writing for theatrical media with special emphasis on film and television. Students will focus on the development of a 'writerly stance' by reading, viewing, and analyzing texts and visual media from a writer's point of view with a focus on understanding the construction process. Students must complete multiple writing assignments including a full-length research paper. This course earns 1 ELA credit and 1 Fine Art Credit.

This is a yearlong class designed for college bound students interested in learning the principles of design, writing and photography necessary to produce the yearbook and/or newspaper. Students enrolled in the class are expected to work independently and meet deadlines throughout the year. The class requires outside time for completion of spreads as well as pictures of events that occur throughout the year. This course is an academic elective and does not satisfy core English requirements for graduation.

This is the first course in a sequence of courses designed to provide students with a rigorous program of study in mathematics. It conforms to Georgia's K-12 Mathematics Standards of Algebra. Students will develop understanding of algebraic concepts including solving equations and inequalities, graphing functions, and using algebraic reasoning to solve real-world problems. Students will take the state Georgia Milestones EOC (End of Course) at the end of the course.

This is the second in a sequence of courses designed to provide students with a rigorous program of study in mathematics. It conforms to Georgia's K-12 Mathematics Standards of Geometry. Students enhance their geometric, algebraic, graphical, and probabilistic reasoning skills. Students will apply their algebraic and geometric reasoning skills to make sense of problems involving geometry, trigonometry, algebra, probability, and statistics. Students analyze and apply understanding of polynomial expressions, proofs, constructions, rigid motions and transformations, similarity, congruence, circles, right triangle trigonometry, geometric measurement, and conditional probability.

This is the third in a sequence of courses designed to provide students with a rigorous program of study in mathematics. It conforms to Georgia's K-12 Mathematics Standards of Advanced Algebra. Students continue to develop their algebraic understanding and problem-solving skills while exploring functions, quadratic equations, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomial and rational expressions, and systems of equations and inequalities.

This is a fourth-year mathematics course option for students who have completed Advanced Algebra. The course is intended to provide students with opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of algebraic concepts that are critical to the study of Calculus. Students will also deepen their understanding of trigonometry and its applications. The course includes the study and analysis of piecewise and rational functions; limits and continuity; sequences and series with the incorporation of convergence and divergence; conic sections as implicitly defined curves; the six trigonometric functions and their inverses; applications of trigonometry such as modeling periodic phenomena, modeling with vectors and parametric equations, solving oblique triangles in contextual situations, graphing in the Polar Plane; solutions of trigonometric equations in a variety of contexts.
