Cleveland High School – Culinary Arts 5-6: Advanced

In this class, you will build on techniques learned in Intermediate Culinary along with exploring food from other cultures. This course also introduces the art of managing catered events, restaurant operations and other types of food service establishments. This course will involve the use of more advanced food preparation techniques, as well as expand upon lessons taught in the introductory courses regarding menu planning, food-costs and recipe development, writing and modification. We will build upon students’ knowledge of safety and sanitation practices by teaching principles of food storage and handling in the context of restaurants, hotels and other large-volume venues. Advanced Culinary Arts will further prepare students for life after high school, careers in food production (found in hotels, healthcare facilities and restaurants) and other culinary careers.
