IB Chinese 4 is designed for students who have completed three years of Chinese. This course focuses on further developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through authentic materials such as movies, newspapers, short stories, and articles. Major topics include environmental protection, volunteerism, traditional Chinese customs (such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year), and the importance of leisure activities. Students will also learn to understand and communicate about career choices, environmental issues, and social concerns. By the end of the year, students will have reached a solid novice-high or intermediate-low level of language proficiency.
