Public Safety/Firefighting I, II is a one-year, three-credit program in which students learn how to fight fires and control the outbreak of fire. Instruction includes fire department organization; use of various kinds of equipment such as extinguishers, pumps, hoses, ropes, ladders, gas masks, hydrants, and standpipe and sprinkler systems; methods of entry and rescue; salvage practices and equipment; and fire and arson inspection and investigation techniques. Students enroll in both fall and spring courses. (Workplace Readiness)
