Students create well-designed and individually conceptualized work that is utilitarian, purposeful, wearable, and/or sculptural in nature. This course may include, but is not limited to, content in metals, jewelry, glass, fabrics/fibers, clay, fashion design, and/or objects for interior or architectural design/embellishment. Student artisans reflect on aesthetics and visual issues related to media and organizational principles of design, manipulating them to create works of art that are progressively more innovative. Increasingly sophisticated oral and written analytical problemsolving skills are employed to improve personal and/or group work and reinforce the ability to selfdiagnose and decide on solutions for art challenges based on growing structural, historical, and cultural knowledge. This course incorporates hands-on activities and consumption of art materials.
