Introduction to the basic principles of various communications forms, the dominant communication theories, and communication industries. Introduction to laws and regulations that govern journalists, media con- tent and industries. Introduction to newswriting techniques, with emphasis on learning news values, recognizing parts of a story and writing stories. Students who advance in the course will have the opportunity to publish work in print and online.
