Bayshore High School – Advancement Via Individual Determination 4

AVID is an academic elective class that attempts to prepare minority, economically disadvantaged, and 'students-in-the-middle' for college through a rigorous, tutorial program that focuses on writing skills, collaborative learning techniques, standardized test preparation, and note-taking, as well as awareness of college admissions and application procedures. Other major components of the program include parental support and input, classroom tutors, and various motivational activities. AVID 4 builds upon AVID 3 and completes the final preparations for students as they prepare for life after high school.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of AVID 3 OR Application, 2.3+ cumulative weighted GPA, passing score on Grade 10 reading assessment and Algebra 1 EOC, good behavior and attendance, desire to attend college/university/trade school/other post-secondary institution
