Introduction to Literature and Composition is an integrated yearlong course that concentrates on guided and critical reading of a diverse range of texts from different genres that reflect themes of identity and self-discovery and where the focus of composition is developing clear and purposeful writing. Includes an integrated honors component.

World Literature and Composition is a yearlong course where students read international texts. The course concentrates on critically reading how the human experience is expressed in literature from around the world. Writing instruction focuses on narrative mode and argumentative writing. Includes an integrated honors component.

College-level composition course where students explore various ways written discourse is useful in the adult world. Key learning outcomes include writing and analyzing rhetorical arguments and adjusting writing style.

A yearlong block course (2 periods) combining Ethnic Studies English 101 with Ethnic Studies US History. Explores pre-colonial Indigenous history through present-day American history and literature with an Ethnic Studies lens.

Advanced Placement Language and Composition focuses on the art of persuasion or rhetoric. Students read non-fictional speeches, letters, and editorials to study interactions between author, audience, and purpose.

Focuses on the study of imaginative literature, including fiction, literary nonfiction, poetry, and dramatic works. Students learn to develop college-level analytic arguments.

Advanced Placement Literature and Composition focuses on reading creative fiction in the form of poetry, prose, and drama with a focus on how an author's techniques develop complex themes.
