This course is designed to provide an introduction to game and simulation concepts and careers, the impact game and simulation has on society and industry, and basic game/simulation design concepts such as rule design, play mechanics, and media integration. This course compares and contrasts games and simulations, key development methodologies and tools, careers, and industry-related information. This course also covers strategies, processes, and methods for conceptualizing a game or simulation application; storyboarding techniques; and development tools. Hands-on activities using an entry-level game development tool should be integrated into the curriculum. Regardless of topic sequencing, the culminating activity is the creation of a playable game.

This course covers fundamental principles of designing a game or a simulation application, rules and strategies of play, conditional branching, design and development constraints, use of sound and animation, design tools, and implementation issues. The content includes market research, product design documentation, storyboarding, proposal development, and presentation of a project report. Emphasis is placed on the techniques needed to develop well-documented, structured game or simulation programs. Extensive use is made of evaluating and analyzing existing games or simulations.

This course is focused on students acquiring the appropriate programming skills for rendering a game or simulation product, including program control, conditional branching, memory management, score-keeping, timed event strategies and methodologies, and implementation issues.

This course introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. As students proceed through the pathway, the structures increasingly shift responsibility to students to formulate their own questions, develop their own solutions, and critique their own work. More than a traditional introduction to programming, it is a rigorous, engaging, and approachable course that explores many of the foundational ideas of computing, so all students understand how these concepts are transforming the world we live in.

Students also explain how computing innovations and computing systems, including the internet, work, explore their potential impacts, and contribute to a computing culture that is collaborative and ethical. Students will prepare for and must take the AP Computer Science Principles exam.

Students will learn to design and implement computer programs that solve problems relevant to today's society, including art, media, and engineering. AP Computer Science A teaches object-oriented programming using the Java language. It will emphasize problem solving and algorithm development, and use hands-on experiences and examples so that students can apply programming tools and solve complex problems. Students will prepare for and must take the AP Computer Science A exam.

This course provides students with content and skills essential to the design and operation of robotics, including artificial intelligence, sensors, electronic devices, engineering technologies, motion physics, electrical motors, programming, simulation and modeling, and critical thinking skills.

This course provides students with extended content and skills essential to the design and operation of robotic systems, including artificial intelligence, specialized sensors, electronic applications, engineering technologies, environmental physics, manufacturing, topographical considerations, programming, communications, simulation and modeling, and critical thinking skills.

This course includes all aspects of producing our yearbook. It will provide students with instruction in journalistic writing and production techniques. Students will become apprentices to the school yearbook and will work on story writing, design, photography, and sales. Throughout this course, students learn best practices for conducting research and interviews, analyzing the reliability of sources, and self-editing. Students continuing in this course are expected to take on positions of leadership within the program. Students should be dedicated and hard-working individuals willing to devote after-school hours for completion of deadlines.

This class is responsible for all aspects of producing our daily morning announcements. The course introduces students to the essential concepts, components, terminology, and knowledge about digital media, software applications, and delivery systems. Students will learn the basic elements of cameras, lighting, composition, and editing. Students will be graded on their ability to film, edit, and produce a show and other projects. This class involves a lot of teamwork within the class. Daily class work, projects, and the ability to meet deadlines will gauge success.

Students explore the musical traditions of 20th- and 21st-century American and global communities around the world through study of current trends, focusing on the function of music within various cultures (e.g. jazz, world drumming, mariachi, soul, gamelan, Bollywood, digital). Students examine and report on human activities involving music, technology- and culture-related influences on music, and the sounds and structures of music composition. Public performances may serve as a resource for specific instructional goals. Students may be required to attend one or more performances outside the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom.

This course allows students to discover how music is constructed and developed, and allows students to acquire a basic understanding of the structural, technical, and historical elements of music. Student theorists develop basic ear-training, keyboard, and functional singing skills, and engage in the creative process through individual and collaborative projects. Public performances may serve as a resource for specific instructional goals. Students may be required to attend one or more performances outside the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom.
