This course is for students passionate about food and how it affects their body. Students will expand on the knowledge form Culinary I and continue hands -on experiences in the foods lab. You will have the opportunity to practice and apply skills learned in cooking methods, baking, sanitation & nutrition. The ServSafe Certification test is administered in this course for student to gain employment in the culinary industry. Students who complete all Mid -State requirements and earn a grade of “C” or better can be awarded high school credit and credit on a Mid -State transcript as Sanitation in the Foodservice Industry (10-316-112) 1 credit. ECE-Foundations of Early Childhood Ed (DC) FAM 340 Typically offered in odd school years; 25 -26. This course is designed for students with an interest in working with children. The course includes classroom instruction in personal and professional care for the developing child. An extended laboratory experience working with Little Sprouts Daycare and the Elementary School will allow students to practice techniques and concepts learned in the classroom. The course will explore program trends, quality indicators, and developmentally appropriate practices for children birth to 8 years of age. State of Wisconsin certification as an Assistant Child Care Teacher is attainable. Students who complete all Mid -State requirements and earn a grade of “C” or better on Mid -State’s grading scale can be awarded high school credit, as well as credit on a Mid-State transcript as ECE -Foundations of ECE (10-307-148) 3 credits. ECE-Child Development (DC) FAM 220 Typically offered in odd school years; 25 -26. This course examines child development within the context of the early childhood education setting with a focus on children ages 3 -8 years of age. An extended laboratory experience working with Little Sprouts Daycare & Elementary School will allow students to practice techniques and concepts learned in the classroom. Students who complete all Mid -State requirements and earn a grade of “C” or better can be awarded high school credit and credit on a Mid -State transcript as ECE: Child Development (10-307-179) 3 credit s. ECE-Health, Safety & Nutrition ( DC) FAM 350 Typically offered in even school years; 26 -27. Students will examine the topics of health, safety, and nutrition within the context of the early childhood educational setting for children from birth through 8 years of age. An extended laboratory experience working with Little Sprouts Daycare and the Elementary School will allow students to prac tice techniques and concepts learned in the classroom. This course includes training for Abusive head Trauma, SIDS, and Mandated Reporter certifications. Students who complete all Mid -State requirements and earn a grade of “C” or better can be awarded high school credit and credit on a Mid -State transcript as ECE: Health, Safety, & Nutrition (10-307-167) 3 credit s.
