This course builds upon the skills acquired in the Level 3 language course, enhancing the students' abilities to express and defend opinions and to describe or narrate, conversationally or in writing, the events of their lives. A variety of literary selections form the basis for discussion and appreciation of (language) culture and civilization. Students taking AP designated classes will develop skills useful for the Advanced Placement Examination and more homework time will be required. A grade of C or higher is required to proceed to the next level. Some schools offer Level 4 classes as concurrent Ohlone courses.

Prerequisites: From Grade 8: B- or higher in Chinese 3, from Grade 9, 10, 11 or 12, C or higher in Chinese 3.
