About Me

I am a graduate of Valparaiso University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Spanish and a Minor in Humanities. I was a Christ College Scholar (Interdisciplinary Honors College), played on the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Team, and studied abroad in Costa Rica. Since graduation, I have earned an Orr Fellowship in Indianapolis (a business and entrepreneurial Fellowship focusing on personal and professional development), where I worked in a rotational experience at a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Syndicator. Additionally, I volunteered at a local non-profit in their bookstore and as a tutor in their Adult ELL Conversation Circles. I also was a Big Sister/Youth Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana. Most recently, as a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Scholar, I served as a Bilingual English Teaching Assistant at a university in the Amazon Rainforest region of Ecuador. I am most passionate about tutoring English (my L1) and Spanish (my L2) with a communicative and learner-centered approach. As a long-term language learner, I enjoy the process of linguistic and cultural development and helping others in their unique journey. I believe that we all have special stories to share, and it is important to appreciate and understand others who are different from us. Thus, furthering our communicative repertoire is key to meaningful intercultural exchange.
