Whether you are new to Chinese, preparing your schoolwork or tests, or looking to improve your skills for business, I would love to share my knowledge of Chinese with you!

In this increasingly global world, Chinese is among the most beneficial languages to learn. China's economic and political power makes learning Mandarin very practical. As one of the oldest languages still spoken today, Chinese is also a gateway to better understanding China's rich culture and vibrant history.

Chinese is special to me because of my background. I was born and raised in China. There I finished my education, even earning my Ph.D. from the Chinese Academy of Science. Over 20 years ago, I moved to the United States. I have lived and worked here ever since. Due to this, I have a large depth of appreciation for both languages.

I believe: "True education is a heart-to-heart activity, and it is only when it comes from the heart that it reaches the depths of the heart."

As your Chinese tutor, I will implement a purpose-driven learning style. When we first meet, I will spend ~10 minutes performing an evaluation to better understand your motivation for learning Chinese, current skill level, and preferred learning materials. If you do not have specific learning material, I will then work with you to develop a curriculum that best balances your goals, interests, and personal life. Lastly, I will recommend some free learning resources for you to study before our next meeting.

In future meetings, I will be dedicated to teaching you from the custom-designed learning materials and assigning supplementary homework if you prefer, using our first consultation as a guideline for workload.

At the beginning of every class, I will give you an informal assessment to gauge your progress and identify any additional needs.
