I am all about communication! The ability to communicate our thoughts and feelings from one to another, whether in verbal or written form, is a critical part of being human; without it, life would be bleak and lonely. Besides, it's fun! So whether I am working with a student to refine an essay for English class or developing basic proficiency in Spanish vocabulary and grammar, I'm having a great time helping that student grow as a communicator.
Since earning my B.A. (and later M.A.ed) from Austin Peay State University over 30 years ago, I have worked with students of all types ranging from 7th grade to Jr. College to improve their proficiency in Spanish and English (Composition and Literature) both inside a traditional classroom and on virtual platforms. Many of those students have been highly motivated to achieve excellence, but many more have had struggles or challenges that we worked together to overcome. The important thing is to identify a style of teaching and learning that works for each one.
