About Me

I grew up in Germany and learned the language by immersion. Since college, I have the passion to teach the language and culture of Germanic countries. In recent years, I have taught 4 levels of German at a local high school; I have experience giving instruction on various subjects in a small group setting and 1-on-1 as well. I most enjoy the latter format - it is the friendliest and most effective. Furthermore, not long ago, I found myself learning a whole new language - I understand the somewhat daunting feeling of starting from scratch and what it takes to make progress. Whether you are stumped by the six different words for 'the', confused about dative or accusative, want to understand German literature, or are simply looking for conversation practice prior to a trip to Europe, I can help. I have lots of additional reading and cultural materials, and we can include current events in lessons. From elementary children to senior adult, I can help you meet your goals as they relate to the German language. Los gehts! Outside of teaching, I love to read about current events and relax with fictional stories. Time permitting, I hit the bike trails around town.
