I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in May 2016 with a Bachelors of Science degree and majored in Biology. I will attend the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in the fall.During my undergraduate years, I have tutored students in math (up to Trigonometry), writing, biology and chemistry and I absolutely enjoyed it! I feel great to be able to teach someone shortcuts to solve difficult problems and understand difficult concepts.I tutor the DAT (Dental Admissions Test) and especially enjoy the perceptual ability section of the exam. I teach crucial test taking strategies I have learned from attending an 8-week Kaplan DAT-prep course. I scored in the 80th percentile on the DAT in the Biology and Chemistry sections; and scored in the 75th percentile overall.I am eager to work with students who are falling behind, as well as students who want to get get ahead or explore outside of the normal curriculum. I enjoy working with students and find great pleasure in seeing my students succeed. I'm patient and am skilled at explaining ideas and concepts in multiple ways to accommodate the needs of the students. I have a laid back demeanor, and I try to make studying as stress-free and enjoyable. I will always answer your calls and texts and I'm great at responding to emergency "My problem set is due tomorrow?!?!" or "I have a test when?!" situations.I have a thorough knowledge of the Cornell style of taking notes in order to perfect note-taking and study skills. At my job at a high school, I assisted students in learning classroom material, encouraged students to challenge themselves, helped students self-analyze, reflect upon, and improve study methods, and also provided tips for remembering difficult material. In addition to providing general tips for all students, I tailor study practices to fit a student's individual needs.I am looking forward to helping you achieve academic success!

I am a rising senior at Barnard College of Columbia University, studying both Music, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. During my time at Barnard, I have been giving private voice lessons and private music lessons (basic music theory and ear training) to students between the ages of 8-18. In high school, I peer-tutored students in Algebra I, Pre-Algebra, History, and essay-writing, my teaching/tutoring; my experiences are both versatile and extensive. Though I have experience teaching a wide range of subjects, I thoroughly enjoy tutoring students in math. In my experiences with students who struggle with math, I aim to help them understand and solve problem sets through fun step-by-step processes. As someone who grew up with a learning disability, I value patience, unique learning styles, and encouragement. Math can be challenging, but once I show students different ways to approach their problem sets, I see outstanding results. It is always wonderful to see students come to actually like math! Outside of school, I am a competitive classical singer; I have performed all over the world, from Carnegie Hall to cathedrals in Italy. Most recently, I placed first in my age division for the Bellagrande Music Competition. Being that said, I am well-versed in both music theory and ear training, and have experience teaching both subjects. I love performing, but I also love teaching the art of music and voice. Getting to witness my students' vocal and musical growth is incredibly rewarding. Above all, I want my students to succeed, progress, and find enjoyment in the work we do together.

I believe in teaching so that my student learns the material in a way he/she is comfortable with. Anyone can impart knowledge but a good teacher imparts knowledge in the most compatible way so that the student doesn't just learn, the student will understand.

I love teaching. My mother and father were both public school teachers. Two of both of my Mom's and Dad's sisters were as well. My maternal grandfather was a school principal. This is where he met my grandmother, who taught at a nearby school. I have practiced law, I have done phone sales and collections. But, when all was said and done, I always returned to the one thing that I love. I would love to share something new with you, even if that is only to help you think about things in a new way.

As a current chemistry student at the University of Texas at Dallas, I know what it is like to be a learner and an educator. I have always enjoyed teaching others to understand how to solve problems and the underlying concepts behind problems. My favorite subject to tutor is chemistry because I love and feel the most confident in tutoring this subject. Last year, I often found myself helping out my peers with college chemistry and calculus. Through that, I have found a love for teaching others. My teaching philosophy can best described by this quote from Plato's Republic:"The object of education is to teach us to love what is beautiful." -Plato, The RepublicOther than tutoring, I love singing, because I had been in choir for 7 years, taking photographs with my film camera, and playing the piano and guitar.

Im a recent graduate of Amherst College, in Massachusetts. Im originally from Colorado, but now Ive found myself starting my life in Chicago. I double-majored in Biology and Russian (strange combination, I realize), and I also took a significant number of classes in our schools Theatre and Dance department. I love sitting down with a good book, sci-fi in particular, or just re-reading my well-worn copies of The Hunger Games or the Inheritance Cycle. My first introduction to tutoring started as volunteer work back in 2009, when I assisted my old math teacher in facilitating middle school math club. One year later, I was hired by a local Kumon center, where I worked as an education assistant for both math and reading. At the Kumon center, I worked with a variety of ages, from 3-16, on subjects ranging from basic addition and subtraction through beginning calculus, and from basic sounding out of words to interpretation of Shakespeare and beyond. I also worked as an assistant teacher at my aerial dance studio, working with the performance program for 8-13 year-olds. Once in college, I wound up working as a teaching assistant for the introductory biology lab in my sophomore year, and I worked as a peer tutor for our colleges Russian department as well. I also worked with a non-profit called Reader to Reader that paired grade-school students with a college-age reading buddy to read and discuss books. When Im not working, I enjoy doing ballet and training as a circus artist. Ive been training trapeze and aerial fabric for 7 years, and Ive been performing for 6. I also really enjoy spending time with cats, sewing, and exploring unknown cities, and not necessarily in that order.

I received my education on a full scholarship from The New York Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering with focus in Thermodynamics and Flight Vehicle Design.I have several years of experience tutoring high school and middle school children in Mathematics and Physics. In college I have taught Thermodynamics as a peer tutor, in a one on one setting, helping students achieve better understanding of concepts and providing them with learning tools such as review sheets and step by step problem solutions. With some team effort, I designed and developed a solar bicycle, capable of harnessing energy through regenerative braking; this project helped me attain more experience in the fields of Robotics and Construction. I believe that with the right tools and patience, one can solve complex quantitative problems by simply breaking them down into easy steps. I make sure that my students have clear understanding of each step I teach and I am able to identify an individual's learning style and mold my teaching methods to best suit their abilities. In my free time I enjoy prototyping on my 3D printer, playing soccer and watching movies.

Solving the world???s problems has always been pleasing to me, being able to put a smile on a person???s face by solving their problems is quite satisfying which is why I became a Math Tutor. As an individual, I alone cannot eradicate the problems that the world faces but this would definitely be a start. As Wade Boggs said, ???a positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results???. That being said, I look forward to the opportunity that will present itself through this company for me to contribute my own little quota. As a tutor, I understand that not every student is the same thus I try to understand the strengths and weakness of a student before devising a method which I believe would be a great study pattern for them. I encourage interactive and collaborative learning as well as setting a goal for ones self without making it a set limit. Most of all, I believe learning should be fun and I always try to make sure it is.

My name is Dan, I'm 24 years old, and I live in Portland, Oregon. I currently work overnight at homeless shelters, and hope to tutor consistently in my spare time. This fall, I will transfer into Reed College to study philosophy as a junior. I have taken the last four years off of school to travel, handle some medical issues, work hard, and do some soul-searching. I enjoy reading and writing, being outside and active, cooking and eating good food, playing guitar, climbing rock and ice, and being alive. I am extremely passionate about learning, and love to get people excited about it as well. I like to say that I teach "maieutically;" which comes from the Greek and means "to midwife, or aid in giving birth," in this sense, to an idea. I prefer to ask the student lots of guiding questions, instead of didactically infusing them with answers. This method results in what I like to call "intellectual exhilaration," in other words, the student is excited because they were able to create something out of themselves, instead of being imbued with the ideas of others something sort of rare for children, teens, and college students at times. I look forward to studying with you!
